Why tuition remission




















To apply, complete the Request for Remission of Tuition. All forms are due to Financial Services by the tuition deadline each term. After one year of service, full-time operating and trust support staff members are eligible for 18 credits per year and part time operating and trust support staff members are eligible for three credits per year. After two years of service, full-time ESL staff members are eligible for 18 credits and part-time ESL staff members are eligible for three credits.

Employees who wish to enroll on a non-degree extramural basis in undergraduate or graduate courses should contact the Office of Extended Studies for more information on the application process. Non-matriculated students should also obtain course registration information from the Office of Extended Studies.

Employee Tuition Remission. Application Form. Governing Guidelines and Restrictions Tuition Remission for eligible employees will cover the balance due of tuition charged less any scholarships or grants creditable toward tuition. Employees are responsible for paying all other fees. In some circumstances, graduate tuition may be regarded as taxable income. If you are a regular full-time employee and have an appointment of nine months or more duration, you, your spouse, and your dependent children are eligible to participate in the Tuition Remission Program.

Employees whose percentage time worked decreases below the eligibility requirements for the Tuition Remission Program will no longer be able to participate in the benefit plan.

Your eligible dependent children are those whom you claim as exemptions on your federal income tax return during the calendar years in which they are enrolled in undergraduate degree programs at Boston University.
